WATER POLLUTION

Water-these 5 words occupy largest share in our lives.Drinking, bathing, washing are our daily phenomenon. From dusk to dawn water provides us intense energy so that we are one of the competitors in this 'RAT RACE'.Its uses tends to infinite;then also we are not giving respect(or paying heed) to this precious renewable resource.Water crisis seems to be a major topic these days.Water pollution continues to be a major threat in india's prosperity.Human being's continuos unplanned & unwise use of technology have destroyed the rivers.People washing their clothes on river banks & animals cleaning themselves in rivers are a common phenomenon.Industries are the worst responsible.Just for saving their funds;harmful chemicals & wastes are being discharged into the rivers.Lead & mercury continues to be the major cause of diseases which are unimaginable.gone are the days when GANGA and BRAHMAPUTRA used to be called HOLY rivers.Nowadays there are piles of garbage across their banks. The level of oxygen is going down & down in these rivers thus adversely affecting the aquatic chain which indeed will be harmful for us.But no one cares....The day is not far when everyone will be dependent on rainwater only. It's a high time & serious steps needs to be taken to get rid of this menace.COMPAIGNS needs to be organised across every city & village highlighting the importance of water.Since the level of groundwater is also going down; so the practise of RAINWATER HARVESTING needs to be expanded on a large scale.Industrial water can be REUSED & must be gone through PRIMARY;SECONDARY & TERTIARY treatment. There must be STRICT RULES to minimise the usage of water wherever it is possible.LEGAL PROVISION must be there to PUNISH the defaulters. We must remember that water is a precious natural resource gifted to us by GOD.We must not waste or destroy it rather utilise it for good.                                          MANAV JAIN(MJ) -5/8/2012
