Trust me, I am an Engineer !!

India - the country with immense opportunities to grab from. You can be a Choreographer, Doctor, Musician, Actor, Cricketer (even though the national sport is Hockey), Businessman, etc. Many such professions are available to choose from. (Just listen to what your intuition says). However there is a separate group 'surviving' and barely 'sustaining' in this competitive environment, which is the department of Engineers. In India, students opt for engineering, and then decide, what they really wanna do.
Gone are the days when people used to address us with some respect. The most prevailing one was, "Engineer 'sahab' ka ghar kahan hai "?? Nowadays the word 'sahab' has been completely omitted from the sentence. (Not even replaced by a mere 'Ji'). What happened? Why everyone opted for the same career choice (which remained orgasmic in the initial period only)?? Well according to me, few years back there came a time when a 'revolution' begun. The revolution to opt for engineering and very soon it transformed into a general trend. In the upcoming years, there a period will come, when CAT will not remain as an animal and GATE will not just be a door. Everyone will go for CAT and GATE and eventually these 'highly respected and prestigious things' will loose their charm too. It will be a pretty intimidating sight, to witness the streets over-crowded, with hundreds and thousands of engineers, if engineers from all over the world are allowed to gather at one place.
However everything is not negative. Here are some of the positive quotes regarding Engineers:
Scientists dream about doing great things, Engineers do them
Engineers have a disease called awesomeness
Engineers have a solution for everything
One has to look out for engineers-they begin with sewing machines and end with atomic bomb
Here is an interesting one-
Optimistic: The glass is half full
Pessimistic: The glass is half empty
Engineer: The glass is twice as big as it needs to be!!
Are you feeling complacent? Well there is nothing wrong in going for a Bachelor of Technology degree program if it’s your passion. If not, then you are probably wasting your time here, and this perilous and truculent thing will burn you alive. (I am the perfect example. The only thing positive thing which usually happens is ‘Friends’. Whatever the situation is, you will always feel better in their company. The academic schedule is also enjoyable (to some extent only). Late night photocopies, Learning from maggus, finishing assignment on the last date in class, all of these incidents are considered jocular by some. I will finish this blog with some more interesting lines:
We are cheaters
But we don’t cheat humanity.
We hate study
But we love technology.
We flirt with flirters
But we are true lovers.
World can’t change us
But we can change the world.
We don’t have books in hands
But we have revolutionary ideas in mind.
Meet us we are the
Engineers.

Please don’t think that these lines are written by me.
