Save the planet

We have not inherited the world from our forefathers, we have borrowed it from our children.
I am sure all of you heard Caprio's Oscar speech this year. For those of you who haven’t, here were the key points regarding the environment. "2015 was the hottest year by far. We had to move to the southern tip of the planet, just to find snow. Climate change is real and it is happening right now. Let us not take this planet for granted, I do not take tonight for granted". Well April has just started and the sun has already started showing off his vicious plans for this summer season. Temperature has already reached 40o C and it is surely expected to rise, in the upcoming months. Carbon emissions from vehicles, burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, increased use of CFCs (used in air conditioners) are not leaving any stone unturned in order to harm the planet. The duration of winter season is decreasing. (In 2016 itself, it merely lasted one month). The average temperature of the earth is increasing day by day, owing to the sudden rise of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. As a result, polar ice caps are melting which are responsible for lowering the temperature.
Many of us are aware of the ramifications but still we do not make amends in fixing them. A slight change in lifestyles can work wonders. Let’s collectively join hands in reducing global warming. Here are some of the steps which can be followed by everyone:-
  • Reduce, Recycle, Reuse – The most important step.
  • Go for energy efficient devices. Use CFL.
  • Drive smart. Use a vehicle only when it is inevitable.
  • Use of Geysers and ACs needs to be minimised.
  • Reduce carbon emissions.
  • Encourage afforestation.
  • Use each and every drop of water judiciously.
